Geocache Description:

WARNING: This cache involves major bushwacking and pathfinding. It is not recommended for for weaklings, small children, or babies. It is a very challenging cache intended to be done with just your GPSr. It will take a minimum of 2 hours to complete.

Finding the cache with the goodies simply involves walking a circle and determining precise bearings with your GPSr.

Figure 1 shows the typical geometry involved. The circle whose radius is r has its center at Point C. Points A and B are special points. There is a point P on the perimeter of the circle where angle U has its greatest value. Angle U is the angle APB; that is, the angle formed by lines from point A to point P and from point B to point P. It is not necessary to use Calculus to find the point P where angle U has maximum value. Simple geometry and your GPSr is all that is required.

I will be happy to discuss solutions to this interesting geometry problem with any cacher who succeeds in signing the cache log book.

Figure 1

Start off by parking at N45 22.072 W075 33.848 . (This is the same parking area as for 'Tick's Torture' cache (GCHRK2).)

The fun starts at Waypoint 1 ... the cursing starts shortly thereafter! At the posted coordinates for Waypoint 1 (N45 22.138 W075 33.676) is a tag (blue with white lettering) on a pine tree with the minute portions of the coordinates of Waypoint 2. (All degree portions of coordinates are N45/W075.)

At Waypoint 2 are 3 tags (blue with white lettering) with the minute portions of coordinates of Point A, Point B, and Point C in the diagram. Point C is the center of the circle; the radius of the circle (r) is 195 meters.

You will have to go to some Point P (on the circle) where the angle U has its greatest value. The container is within an acceptable search area of this point; it is hanging in a large double-trunk white pine tree in plain view.

Good Luck! Don't forget to have fun and enjoy the varied terrain! I know I did, as I visited the area 5 times making sure the cache was set up properly ... *grin*. Deer are plentiful in the area.

PLEASE do not include spoilers in your logs. Logs with spoilers will be deleted immediately. If you believe there are any problems with the cache setup, please advise me privately by e-mail so that I may fix them if necessary.
