Geocache Description:

The cache in an Aurora park. It’s an easy hike, but if you stray, it could be a long one.

This is a multi-cache placed for Bicycle Aurora with the assistance of City of Aurora park rangers. The cache is placed in a wonderful park with wetlands and a lot of wildlife. There are a lot of trails to try out and things to see. Bring binoculars to watch birds and wildlife. Bring a camera for those moments you're nose to nose with the animals. The park staff requests that you stay on the trail as much as possible and the cache is just a bit off trail. Please do not cross fenced off preserve areas. Be careful to stay on the trail.

Go to the above coordinates. This is the park visitor center. Inside is a nature wall with a map. You will use the title plaque above (and right) of the map to get your next coordinates. Do not count spaces or punctuation. Use only the alphabet letters for your calculations. Use the letters in the order they appear in. Convert each letter to its numerical value (a=1, b=2, …, z=26). Perform the mathematical operation indicated on the value that you get. These will be your coordinates to go to.

(-20)(*1)º (/3)(+1).(-12)(/9)(+3)’ N
(-4)(-1)(/3)º (-11)(/2).(+2)(-10)(*6)’ W

Once done you will have the answer. These coordinates are in the park. If you get results outside of the park boundaries, you have not solved the puzzle correctly. This is a single step multi-cache. Go to this location to explore the cache.

Please note that the visitor center is open the following hours:
Monday -- closed
Tuesday -- closed
Wednesday -- 12:00 to 16:30
Thursday -- 12:00 to 16:30
Friday -- 12:00 to 16:30
Saturday -- 9 AM to 16:30 PM
Sunday -- 9 AM to 16:30 PM
You will not be able to access the key text outside of these hours.

The Park is open daily during daylight hours. There are no lights, so you may want to confine your activities to daylight hours. Trails in the park are commonly frequented by horse riders. The park is also home to a lot of varied wildlife, including foxes, coyotes and raccoons. Feel free to bring your dog for a walk, but please follow the posted leash rules and do not take your dog (or yourself) into areas that are protected.

Budget an hour to get the whole thing done. Budget two or more if you're easily distracted by shiny things.

Please note that if you completed this cache before early 2010, the Army Corps of Engineers reclaimed the spot the cache used previously and it had to be moved to a “non-flood location”. Please also note that the visitor center has undergone some renovation and the original animal exhibit signs have been removed. The coordinates are keyed to a new permanent sign.

This cache is placed in an Aurora Parks and Open Space property with the approval of the Aurora Parks and Open Space rangers.
