UPDATE: We will be replacing this cache asap! A kind geocacher found it in quite a disarray, someone dumped it in the lake and ruined 17 years worth of log books. We do come to the area frequently prior to Covid. One of our children was very sick this winter/spring and in hospital so we were unable to attend to it. I am hoping to get out this weekend and replace everything as it's been such a fun 17 years at this location and one of the oldest geocaches around. Please note that the hint no longer applies. I will update all of this asap. There is a small container a kind geocacher placed a few feet away from the rooted tree where it once had a home. Please read the messages from other finds to locate. Hopefully the weather co-operates and I can replace it this weekend so we can continue to enjoy. My kids loved to come back every summer and check on the log book. It's sad that someone tore it apart and dumped it - please be mindful of hiding the caches in their original spots with plenty of cover and do not add items that will attract wildlife. :) thank you all so much for messaging me and letting me know. Lots of birdhouses, butterflies, and BUGS! ;p Cache is in a rubbermaid container with blue lid. You will have to move some cover to get to it as I wanted to make sure it was concealed well to prevent any vandalism or mistaken finds. Just off the beaten path.
The cache is well marked on the lid in case someone finds it by accident, as well as the included info taped inside of the lid.
To get to Trail B, you will enter the first parking lot on your left, from there, walk past the outhouses/washrooms to the map area, you can take a look and mark out your route if you like. If you are unfamiliar with this area I highly recommend that you mark your starting point for return. You'll begin on Trail B just crossing a little bridge. You may choose to take different trails, but this is my favorite. I took my 4 four 1/2 year old daughter and it was roughly 4 KM round trip, she only complained on the last 1/2 kilometre of being tired.
Cache contents include:
recipe cards (my own favourites), bracelets, Indigenous drumming and flutes cd, playing cards, old maid, trinkets, happy face stickers, glow-stick (it's out of the package, just needs to be cracked to make it work), barbie band-aid, pencils, elastic, 2 polished stones of different colours, 2 trent keychains, 2 AA batteries, etc...etc... Full of fun goodies, log book and pencils.
A few nice spots to sit and have lunch on tables. There is a beautiful lookout over the marsh area you will really enjoy. Several different paths you could take to the cache but this one I found to be my favourite of all the trails I've walked/ridden by bike. This is a nice clean park. Beach area with playground available for family. I wouldn't recommend the stroller through D Trail at some points the roots stick up quite badly, you may want to check the map for an alternate route.
I travel these paths frequently by foot or bike so this cache can be checked on. It is in memory of the Shelley's Crew Cache (Ken Reid Glade) - OUR VERY FIRST! :) So in honour of their fun caches we had to bring some folks back to this beautiful area.
I will add some photo's, my camera died as I'd left it on and ran the batteries dead. I cannot say enough good things about this park. :)
