Tantor's First Challenge Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Tantor: I had to archive this one for two reasons. First, the cache itself is irrevocably lost. (Just replace it right?...no.)

Second, someone defaced a tree in a county park by carving an arrow into its trunk indicating where the cache was located.

Whoever did this was worng to do so. First, such defacement of public property is wrongful. Second, it denied the opportunity for a challenge to others.

I'm very dissapointed that a fellow geocacher would do this.

Geocache Description:

This cache not intended for the kids or to be a “quickie;” although, it is not intended to be too hard. In fact, it is the first in a series that will become progressively more challenging. How fast and how many people find this one will dictate how much I ramp up the next.

You will need a good compass, a small sense of adventure, and tenacity. Plan on getting wet, muddy, bitten by bugs (and maybe some animals), poison ivy, ducking, jumping and climbing. If this appeals to you, read on. This is a simple offset cache. The goal is a sandwich-size Tupperware-style container. There is the coveted brand new, in the box, laser pointer as the reward for the intrepid “First Finder.” Cloud and vegetation cover limits your GPSr so you will probably have to do some searching (I had an accuracy of 19ft). Directions: On an azimuth of 350 deg, 65 – 75 feet from the “w.” Good luck.
