It is great that so many people are interested in this idea, so here we go:
Part 1: Meet at the above coordinates on Nantucket. This is the lower corner of the Grand Union parking lot. I am suggesting 11:00 am. That gives everybody time to get here. Both ferry lines from Hyannis have boats that would get you here by then, & time to rent bikes if needed. Off to do some caching!
Part 2: Lunch downtown at Henry's sandwich shop. Definatly the best place for sandwiches on the island. Plenty of time to swap stories! Topics of discussion that might be interesting due to uniqueness of the islands are: the varieties of terrain encountered, what essentials to pack for the trail to ensure safety, the pros & cons of group caching & most importantly, how well do GPS work in the fog! Off to do some more caching!
Part 3: Decide what to do for the night. Stay on Nantucket, back to the cape, or over to the Vineyard to spend the night there.
Part 4: Caching on the Vineyard. As I am not familiar with that island I can be of no help there, but hope to make it over as well. When there we can compare the caching experiences from both places.
If there are people that do not want to bike on the island I could drive a small group, but if the weather is good it is a great place to bike as there are bike paths everywhere.
Also if people want to do a bit of sightseeing I can offer site passes to get into the properties of the Historical Association. They have the oldest house on the island, the oldest working windmill, & other cool properties. I just need an advance count to get the tickets.Hope many can make it for this Island Invasion!!!!!!
