A Loosestreif Adventure Traditional Cache

NEW LOCATION: Use NW parking lot off Perry Street. You will find it away from board-walks and tree cover may alter GPS readings. You are looking for a white gallon jug inside a camouflage bag. This cache has logbook with pen, and goodies for everyone, big and small.
This park has tennis & basketball courts, baseball & soccer fields, picnic tables, hard packed trails for walkint or biking and an observation tower. Take your lunch and enjoy your stay at this local nature preserve.During the summer blooming season, looking towrd Ottawa Beach Road from the observation tower, you can see one huge mass of purple. When the tower was built it was surrounded by marsh, open water, and wet land, scattered with little critters and wildlife. Then Purple Loosestrife moved in. This is an exotic plant that destroys wildlife habitats by displacing native vegetation that provides food, shelter, and breeding areas for our natural wildlife. The loosestrife has become an aquatic nuisance, which has no local predators and is out of control. There are projects being studied whereby a leaf-eating beetle can be raised and released to feed on and ultimately kill the European Purple Loosestrief.
