I was driving through the area in search of caches for the DeLorme Challenge, and stopped for a break. While I was snacking, I took a look at the map and saw this ridge. The name was intriguing, so I decided to take a drive up to see if it lives up to its name.
I drove and drove, over 6 miles up the dirt road. Finally I reached the top of the ridge. I stopped in a shady spot and got out to survey the view. My ears immediately detected the telltale hum that told me the name of the ridge is befitting. Within a minute, a few of the residents flew over to check me out, and one or more followed me wherever I went.
Warning: If you are at all allergic to Bee or Yellow Jacket stings, do not attempt this cache! I was stung twice while scouting a spot to hide it.
The road leading up to the ridge is rough in places. Moderate ground clearance is required. When it rains, I'm sure 4wd will also be required, as some parts are steep with several inches of powdery dust.
