Geocache Description:

Update: 7/26/05 - The new container is a camouflaged tupperware container. Please be sure to "burp" the lid before you replace it.

Take care around the broken glass that seems to always be present.

The best time to visit this location is on the weekends. The Tot Lot is adjacent to an elementary school. If you visit M-F between 7AM-10PM, you are asked to register at the Principal's office.

Please bring your own pen. You can trade small items. Please let me know when the log is full.

This is a little used park on the border of Castro Valley and Hayward. The park is surrounded on three sides by the elementary school. There is a water fountain on the school grounds to the right of the park. The playground to the right is open and this is a good spot to take kids who want to "monkey around" for a while. The gates are chained, but open for people, bicycles and scooters to pass through. There are no dogs allowed, which is too bad because there is a nice big field for them to run on.

Please bring a bag to pick up trash and haul away. There is no trash can on site.

Be sure to read the *NOTICE* that HARD is putting up at all their parks.

Thanks to AllwaysLooking for history of the site! Per AllwaysLooking's log: "The Charquin program is a parent participation program within the Hayward School District. The play structure within the school grounds was donated buy contributions from friends and families of the Charquin program...This Tot Park was better maintained than it is now. Too bad Hayward let it go, there used to be more stuff for the little kids in the tot yard." A couple of interesting websites AllwaysLooking pointed out: (visit link) and (visit link)
