Alpine Reviewer: As I have not received an update from the cache owner, I am archiving this cache to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you (the cache owner) wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the near future, please contact me, and assuming it meets the guidelines, I will be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Easy walk around historic Los Alamos, NM, birthplace of the atomic age to collect numbers defining the location of small cache.

This multi-cache consists of a short walking tour of downtown Los Alamos, New Mexico, birthplace of the atomic age, in search of a group of numbers that will define the location of a small cache located nearby. The coordinates provided are for the parking lot where the walking tour will begin. After your cache hunt is completed, be sure to return to these many interesting sites, or visit the Historic Museum by Fuller Lodge, or the Chamber of Commerce in the parking lot where you started, for more information.

The original cache was vandelized several times, so has now been moved and changed to a small container. The places visited are the same, but the total walk is less. There are geomuggles in the area; please be discrete when finding the cache, and re-hide it adequately.

Park near the coordinates provided. Go east to the Bradbury Science Museum (named for the 2nd Laboratory director, following J. Robert Oppenheimer). A = last two digits of the date the museum was moved to the main Laboratory site on South Mesa, minus 13.

Go west to the green area around Ashley Pond (it should really be called Ashley Pond Pond since it was named after Ashley Pond, the founder of the Los Alamos Ranch School). The “Ice House” memorial, where the nuclear components of the Trinity device (the first prototype nuclear weapon) were assembled, is on the south side of the pond. B = last digit of the year that the world’s first plutonium reactor went into operation, plus 2.

C = the number of letters in the name of the pony by Ashley Pond, minus 1.

D = the day of the month the “Touching the Sky” sculpture was dedicated, plus 6.

Across the street is a memorial to Pierotti’s Clowns, a 5-man softball team that played 200 games for charity. E = the number of games they lost, minus 5.

A fun sculpture in front of the library involves a wagon. F = the number of individuals in the sculpture (including the teddy bear), minus 4.

Go east to Fuller Lodge, the large timber and stone building, built in 1928 for the Ranch School. The Atomic Energy Commission obtained possession for the Manhattan Project in 1943. G = the sum of the digits of Fuller Lodge’s State of New Mexico Historical Site number, minus 12.

The old Power House is NW of Fuller Lodge. H = the last digit of the “T” designation.

The cache is at: N 35º A.BCD W 106º E.FGH

To check your answer, the sum of the coordinate digits A through H = 100.
