Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Priory Park, Southend on Sea, Essex. It is an off set cache meaning that you will be lead to one location where you will gather information to find the cache.

Priory Park is home of Prittlewell Priory, Southends first dedicated museum. The priory was founded in the early 12th century. Much of it was demolished following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1536 but the magnificent Refectory has survived. Here you can view the splendid timberwork while creating a bronze rubbing. There is also a major communications display and a gift shop. Opening hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10am – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm. It is definitely worth a look around and it is FREE!

At the above coordinates you will find a bell. The bell once hung in Newgate Prison in London and when it rang it announced an execution. The tolling of this bell inspired John Donne to write the following poem:

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manner of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

Near the bell you will find two graves.

Edward Cecil Jones died January A9, 196E, he was aged B2.

Robert Arthur Jones was born in 18C9, and died May 2D, 19XX. (F=X+X)
C=____ D=____ F=X+X____

Now you have the information you need to construct the cache coordinates which are: N51 33.ABC E000 42.DEF

The cache is a 6”x6”x3” clear Tupperware container. It containers the usual trinkets. The park can be busy so be wary of muggles. There are plenty of benches to sit on while filling out the logbook and exchanging items.
