Muskrat Falls Geocache Traditional Cache
ArcticNomad: Really sad to have to give this one up, but it looks like the area will soon be off limits to the public in preparation for the big Muskrat Falls power project that is already underway across the river...

Approximately 20 miles from the town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay lies
a beautiful section of the Hamilton (Churchill) River called
Muskrat Falls. This is off the beaten path, but is worth the trek
just to see the waters of this river tumble over the falls. The
trail is well-worn and easy to follow, but the last few hundred
yards are rough, rocky, and steep in places. This last section is
definitely NOT for small kids.
This is a standard Rubbermaid container camouflaged with paint. It
is well hidden in a typical manner. You don't have to go near the
edge of the rocky riverside to find this cache (So DON'T!). There
is a great parking spot near the trailhead, and a second lookout
area near the parking area. The trailhead is at N53 15.152 W 60
46.593. There is another scenic lookout area at N53 15.005
W60 46.598, on the trail to the Falls. Please be very careful
around the falls area, as there are NO second chances allowed here
for unwary visitors.
