The other day, we received an e-mail from our friends DavidT21 & Fisherwoman living in Cincinnati, OH. They told us about this new super cache that spans several states, with a great first-to-find prize for those willing to go the distance.
Naturally we were interested, so we booked a plane ride immediately for Saratoga, NC. However, bad weather diverted our flight and we had to make an emergency landing at LaGuardia airport in New York. Well, that was a bummer, but we decided to spend the layover caching the local area! Who wouldn't? Luckily we found some wi-fi access, and we got a new pocket query while hanging out in the airport lobby.
Once on the road, we got a call from our friends again. They were also chasing the new super cache, and had made it as far as Brimfield, MA, when they got stuck due to snow closing the road. They'd already found one leg of the cache in Pleasanton, CA and two others in Arvada, CO and Bunnell, FL, so they were already ahead of us!
We got as far as 50 miles from the airport when another friend, TeamAlamo, called to ask us if we'd already found some of the stages of the cache. They'd just come from Schenectady, NY and then drove into Washington, DC and were stumped on one hide. Sorry, we said. Hadn't gotten there yet! We told them to call DavidT21 & Fisherwoman... they'd already been there and could probably help.
So, back to the airport, grabbing caches in Hamptonville, NC on the way. What a great day! There certainly weren't this many caches in our hometown of Atlanta, GA.
Now that we were back on track, getting the legs of this super multi cache in Yreka, CA and Allandale, FL weren't so bad. But, we were running out of vacation days, and decided to call off the whole thing and go sight seeing in Gunpowder, MD.
DavidT21 & Fisherwoman eventually met up with TeamAlamo at the final leg of the cache, Manhatten, NY. They had to split the first finders prize, a free super sundae at the last remaining Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor. We're glad we quit when we did... what a cruddy prize for all that work!
The cache is a smallish tupperware container. Inside you'll find a load of used and mint postage stamps! Feel free to look at them and trade for them if you'd like. Years ago, when this cache was placed, there was a Collectable Stamps retail store in the nearby building, but that is long gone. PLEASE PARK IN THE PARKING LOT, and NOT IN THE WEIGH STATION. The landlord is trying to keep people from crossing through the bushes.
The story is entirely fictional; any resemblance to real persons or places is purely coincidental.
Final note: we got this puzzle idea and borrowed some of the instructions from the Snail Mail cache by WeBeDnD.
