A tricky cache that involves a woodland walk alongside Lake Shearwater on the edge of the Longleat Estate. Not suitable for pushchairs and could get muddy after heavy rain. Maximum amount of time 40 mins from leaving car (assuming you find it pretty quickly).
Shearwater is a man-made lake on the edge of the Longleat Estate and was created in 1791 by the Duke of Bridgwater who was a canal builder and frequent visitor to Longleat. The great expanse of lake with its varied colours and beautiful walks is an inspiring place of natural beauty. Public footpaths for walkers include the Imber Range Perimeter path and woodland walks around the lake provide fun for fungi foragers. The Shearwater sailing club is also in resident and visitors are welcome. On entering Shearwater there is a small admission charge of £1 per car which you need to throw into the pot provided at the side of the road. Follow the road around the lake as far as you can drive and then park up. You will see a small break/indentation in the bushes at N51 10.842 W002 13.199 on the left side of the path. Take this overgrown path. I believe this cache to be our hardest yet, partly due to tree cover interfering with the GPS and partly due to the overgrown terrain. You may be wise to take the clue with you. You are searching for a tupperware container. Happy hunting cache people.
