5 "C"s: The cache was taken and we have decided not to replace 😟
Have really enjoyed the time the cache was active and many thanks to all the cachers who left positive comments. Pop has been gone now for 24+ years as well as most of the rest of the family that got us to go back to that area as often as we used to. The area of the cache is still a wonderful place to find/visit. Perhaps some other cacher will use the area.

Murphy Flowage Recreation Area - NW Rusk County
This cache is placed as a small remembrance of our father who worked for the WI Department of Natural Resources, at Murphy Flowage, conducting fish population/growth studies from 1955 to 1970. That spring a large storm caused the flowage's concrete dam to wash out and the project was abandoned. Recently the area has been developed into a very nice public campground and separate picnic/park area. The picnic/park area is free and the enclosed picnic shelter is a very impressive handcrafted rustic log structure, well worth taking a moment to marvel at. Bring your fishing pole and try your luck at the flowage across the road. The area is forested and would be great for viewing fall leaf colors. Nearby is the Ice Age hiking trail, too. Pop was an original “treasure hunter”, but used a metal detector long before the GPS arrived. We’re sure he would have loved Geocaching. The cache is an ammo can originally filled with varied reminders of Pop’s love for the outdoors, the many hours he spent fishing the area lakes, hunting in the local woods, and some of his other favorite pastimes. There is a nearby parking area, N 45 34.438/W 091 30.750 Hope you enjoy the cache and the area.
