Geocache Description:

Located on the Ko`olau Summit at the end of the Laie Trail. First 1/3 is hot dirt and up hill all the way. The rest is on a "graded" trail but it is long and that makes it HARD but not dangerous.
YOU NEED TO GET PERMISSION FROM
HAWAII RESERVES INC
phone: 293-9201

Turn onto Naniloa Loop from Kamehameha Highway. Park alongside Laie Park. Parking coords: 21 39.0275N, 157 55.885W There will be giant white concrete pillars lying alongside Laie Park that your car will face when parked. Then you walk Mauka to and around a gate, up the road, which becomes a dirt road After a short while you will find a larger map diagram on the left. This is the trailhead, you are on your way.

This cache is at the end of the Laie Trail on the Ko`olau Summit. On the way if you are lucky you can find the "Laie Trail First Third" cache. Anyway mine new cache is at the very end of the trail which has been cleared today by the Hawaii Trail and Mountain Club, cleared again 22 January 2006. The middle from the pine trees to the “crossover” have been “lopped” by hand and “weed whacked” by machine. The trail is long. About 6 miles one way. Allow at least 4-5 hours to summit, and minus one hour to get down again. When you get to the sign that says KST with arrows pointing to the left and right you must go a little higher. Use your GPS to guide you. At the crest there is a “fox hole” at least that’s what we call it. It’s a hole in the ground about 2 feet deep 4 feet wide and 6 feet long. If you sit in the fox hole the winds will blow over your head and you can relax and eat your lunch. IF the cache had teeth it would bite you. Check the uploaded photo for help.

I had to replace the original cache container and now it no longer has school supplies. Perhaps someday I'll change the name of the cache!!!!!!!!

Cache contains:

1-Log book and pencil

2-A calculator.

3-A "Where is George" dollar bill.

4-A pair of sissors

5-A pack of cable ties
