Oldest pine-forest in Norway is situated in Forfjorden.
'For' comes from Furu. (Pinus Sylvestris)
The oldest tree in Norway was cut in this area in 1980.
It had 715 year-rings. Pine forests are rare in this region.
The main forest is in the valley south of the fjord.
The pines at the cache location are however easier to get to.
Close to the fjord you can see a deGeer moraine. This type of moraine has its name from the famous swedish geologist Gerard de Geer. He developed a method to find the age of glacial deposition of sediments, by looking at patterns in the sediments that looks like ...tree year-rings.
Update: Had to relocate cache due to regular muggling. See photo for new location.
