Honoring
Noel Smith
“Noel Smith served the Michigan Department of Transportation as an engineer for 42 years. During his career, Mr. Smith managed portions of many major construction projects in the Metro District, including construction of I-696, the Blue Water Bridge Plaza, the Military Street Bascule Bridge and portions of the reconstruction of M-59 in Macomb County. In addition, Mr. Smith served as an instructor for the construction office technician class for four years. With his leadership and supervision, Mr. Smith helped improve the overall quality of transportation in Michigan. He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering.”
