Geocache Description:

The above coordinates are NOT those of the cache, but it is less than a mile away.

In the sixteenth century, Juan Sebastián de Elcano brought the ship Victoria, the only surviving vessel in Magellan's fleet, back to Spain. His crewmen were the first to circumnavigate the Earth. Emperor Charles V gave him a globe with the inscription "Primus circumdediste me" ("You were the first to encircle me.")

What year did the fleet leave? Call that AAAA.
Let XXX = AAAA - 1496.

In the twentieth century, Frank Borman, James Lovell, and William Anders, the crew of Apollo 8, were the first to circumnavigate the moon. On Christmas Eve, they sent home stunning photos and video of Earthrise over the moon, demonstrating just how small and fragile our planet really is.

What year did Apollo 8 leave the Earth? Call that BBBB.
Let YYY = BBBB - 1473.

Now it's your turn for circumnavigation. The cache location is:
N 45 25.XXX
W 122 43.YYY

The terrain difficulty varies from 1.5 to 4.5 depending on how heavy the flow is. Do not bring small children or animals. If you find that the flow is high, please come back at another time when conditions are less dangerous.

The cache container is a micro. There isn't enough room for a writing utensil, so please bring your own.
