The Blind Miner Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

minerals44: The Blind Miner has been reincarnated as The Blind Miner Rides Again! It should be kinder and friendlier, at least until the winter snow flies. Then it will probably have to be re-rated as a 2*/4*.

Geocache Description:

Don't be put off. This an EASY 2-step multicache trip to a traditional ammo box. The theme is Big Cottonwood geology and mining history. You will get 2 numbers at the Blind Miner’s stop that will let you go on to the cache itself.

Note: The mine property at the first stop is gated and posted. Trespassing is forbidden (otherwise I would have put a magnetic micro there!). The mine adit ( N 40 38.532, W 111 40.588) can be seen and photographed from the public parking area.

The coordinates of the cache (second stop) are:N 40 3X.333 where X is the second number of the miner’s birth year, and; W 111 3Y.515 where Y is the third number of the year of his death. The cache is within easy view from the road. Be really, really sneaky; re-hide the ammo box well.

(Optional) While you are in the canyon you may want to visit these other markers to learn more about the geology there:

  • N 40 37.327 W 111. 45.043;
  • N 40 37.490 W 111. 44.573;
  • N 40 38.614 W 111. 40.504;
  • N 40 38.585 W 111. 40.549;
  • N 40 38.983 W 111. 38.884

See logs below: Although there were no snakes at the cache on 7/24/05, if you dislike them you might want to postpone your visit until colder weather (when we plan to move the cache! ;-) WoJoUtah provisionally identified two species nearby ... thought to be racers and pine snakes ... neither believed to be poisonous but they could bite.
