This location was the site of a Composting facility that was combining wood chips with raw sludge from Metro Water & Sewer treatment plants to make mulch. This operation was established without the knowledge of the community until the stinch got so bad that the neighbors could not even go outside in their yards in the summer months. The smell consumed the entire area for several miles and even drifted up the hill to Ridgetop as well. After months of court battles the operation was shut down but you still might notice a peculiar smell when you get out of your car.You might want to think twice before applying mulch to your vegetable gardens. You never know where it may have come from!!
