DoltishGuy: The end has come. I realize that when, and if, Central Fire Station ever returns I should be able to make a new cache.

The City of Cedar Rapids and FEMA still seem to be miles apart in estimating the damage to our station so I do not hold any hope that the situation will be resolved any time soon.

Thanks to all who visited our cache and our station.

Happy Caching.........

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

An easy, year-round cache on a nice city side-street that you can practically drive right up to. PLEASE don't park in the fenced-in parking lot. This micro cache will only allow for a signature in the log. Please use discretion when muggles are nearby and place cache back in location as far back as possible.

I placed this, my first cache, where I can keep a good eye on it. This cache contains a mini-style logbook, a pencil, and cache info sheet. It should be fairly easy to spot the location when you get nearby. (NOT in the building and NOT in the prickly bushes!) This cache is located NEXT to a place where hard-working men and women are on duty 24-7-365 to keep the citizens of Cedar Rapids safe. Unfortunately, I have been transferred to another station this year but the folks here remain friendly! If you have time, come next door and tell them you are a fellow geocacher like Skip Johnstone and, if they aren't busy, they'll show you around!

8/11/04 UPDATE!!!! Although we are friendly at this location, PLEASE don't park in the building parking lot within the fenced-in area!!! There is plenty of parking along the street for a brief visit!!!!
