Angus Glens - Baby Small Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Clova: Have decided to archive this one as it wasn't on one of the prettier parts of the walk. Hopefully someone else will get some caches out on the blue door walk.

Geocache Description:

The main Angus Glens have often been described as being similar to the fingers of the right hand reaching towards the Cairngorms. This cache is the part of a series covering each "finger".

This cache covers the foot of Glen Esk and takes you on a leisurely stroll along the River North Esk as it passes through a gorge at Gannochy just north of the village of Edzell.

The best way to approach this cache is to take the Edzell turn-off  on the A90. As you approach Edzell you pass through a memorial arch erected in memory of a former Earl of Dalhousie and his Countess who died within 24 hours of each other. Edzell is a Victorian built village and the architecture of the main street is unique in the area.

Parking for the cache is in a large layby just over the Gannochy Bridge at N56 49.690 W002 39.383. Go through the blue door, push hard and mind yer heid ! An alternate route would be to start the walk in Edzell - the path starts behind the post office (signposted Shakin Brig ) and follow the river upstream from there.

Cache is a medium sized locking box.

Look out for some unusual wildlife near the cache site. We spotted a butterfly, an otter, a salmon and 2 toadstools - let us know if you find anything else !

Cache is a 370ml lock and lock box
