This cache covers the foot of Glen Esk and takes you on a leisurely
stroll along the River North Esk as it passes through a gorge at
Gannochy just north of the village of Edzell.
The best way to approach this cache is to take
the Edzell turn-off on
the A90. As you approach Edzell you pass through a memorial arch
erected in memory of a former Earl of Dalhousie and his Countess
who died within 24 hours of each other. Edzell is a Victorian built
village and the architecture of the main street is unique in the
area.
Parking for the cache is in a large layby just
over the Gannochy Bridge at N56 49.690 W002 39.383. Go through the
blue door, push hard and mind yer heid ! An alternate route would
be to start the walk in Edzell - the path starts behind the post
office (signposted Shakin Brig ) and follow the river upstream from
there.
Cache is a medium sized locking box.
Look
out for some unusual wildlife near the cache site. We spotted a
butterfly, an otter, a salmon and 2 toadstools - let us know if you
find anything else !
Cache is a 370ml lock and lock box
