The Cache in The Middle of The Freeway Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Nomex: Hi
As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, [RED]and assuming it still meets the guidelines[/RED], we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Don't hesitate to email me via the link on my Profile if you have any questions. [red]Please be sure to include the cache name and GC Code, or better yet, the URL of the cache page.[/red]

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

No, you will not find this cache by walking or stopping on the freeway. In this adventure, you will discover two secret passages along the Pacific Crest Trail that allow you to access both sides of the freeway without moving your car.

You can get to this cache by parking your car at either one of the following two rest stops:

EASTBOUND I-80: Park in the I-80 Summit Rest Area.
WESTBOUND I-80: Park in the Donner Summit Rest Area.

Cache is about 0.3 miles from each rest stop.

WARNING: As with all rest areas and cache sites near freeways, keep a close reign on young children and dogs until you are safely away from the freeways areas. You do not have to leave the trail to get this cache.

FROM THE DONNER SUMMIT REST AREA (Westbound): Go to the GPS coordinates listed above. Walk on the trail behind and east of the Rest Stop Building. It is easiest if you stay on the trail. Use your GPS machine as a guide when you meet a fork in the road. On your way, you may want to geocache "Let the Games Begin".

FROM THE I-80 REST AREA (Eastbound): Go to the following coordinates: N 39° 20.559 W 120° 20.173
You will be walking over some polished rock and between a pond or two... A beautiful walk. Make sure you take a reading of the coordinates at the parking lot, before you start, so you can find your way back.

Going either way will lead you to a three step multi-cache, all very close to each other. The first two are magnetic keyholders.

This final cache area is a good place to go to if you are being stalked by evil Muggles. Have 2 or 3 thousand geocachers hiding in ambush between the two secret passages so that when the muggles come in behind you they can jump them.

By using these secret passages, you can access some great geo-caches on both sides of the freeway without moving your car. Robbie's Friends have two great geocaches one on each side, "Purdy Purdy" and "Sum It Up Cache". Olebiker and OleHiker's "Summit Lake Overview" and MikeP's "I-80 Summit" are close by. And of course, don't miss Kolly Wobbels #7: Tranquility. There are a few more, enough to make a geocaching day of it.

Cache is a 6 inch by 6 inch rubbermaid container stuffed with interesting artifacts, mostly toys. THERE IS NO NEED TO LEAVE THE TRAIL TO GET THIS CACHE.

Opps, I forgot to bring a pencil!

This exercise will test your ability to estimate or calculate coordinates, but the hint makes it very easy to figure out without all that fuzzymath.
