Geocache Description:

This is a rather difficult cache by the Tour de Austria team. Not to hard to find but you have to hike a hight difference of 1300m. It's a 8km small trail which mostly goes up rather steep. If you're not an experienced hiker please do not try to find this cache. Also carefully check the mountain weather conditions before starting the hike. Typically it will take you around 3.5 hours to get up and 2.5 hours to come down again..

This special cache is dedicated by the team Tour de Austria to Denise. She, daughter, sister, sister in law, and aunt to the members of our team, has suddely died on Febuary 28th 2004, at the age of 40. She leaves a husband, a daughter, a son and us on this world. We want to memorialize her by this cache, we ask the visitors of this cache to take home a candle, and light it, so she will still travel all over the world in our thoughts. Thank you, fellow Geocachers!

The coordinates above bring you to the end of a small village of Hinterthal which means "end of the valley". Here you can park your car and admire the surrounding mountains on three sides.

Nearby you will find signs that will lead you to the end of the valley. Follow the signs to the "Triefen". After enjoying this beautiful location the journey continues. Continue in the same (NE) direction.

Go to the following location: N47° 25.670 E012° 59.720.

At these coordinates, look at the signs and follow the top sign going up. In the distance you can see where you have to go. It's the location is called "Torscharte" where the electricity cables cross the mountain into the next valley....
During your hike up you will cross the following co-ordinates: N47°26.347 E013° 00.813.
On a big rock you will see the Austrian flag painted together with a number. This number is X
At the top of the hike there is a huge mast for the high voltage cables. This is a good place to find a spot offering some shelter for the wind which is always blowing here. On de mast there is again an Austrian flag painted with another number. This number is Y

The cache is located at the folliwing position: N47° 26.(X + 11) E013° 01.((Y * 2) - 37) at an altitude of 2300m.

The cache is a white semi-transparent box with a blue cover put in a dark grey plastic bag. Happy hunting!
