The cache is located near to the junction for Mill Gill Force, beside the path. Not in the dry stone wall or close to a cliff edge. It's quite a busy spot so take care to return it to its hidy place.
Mill Gill is a stream on the outskirts of Askrigg. In 1740, the year the thames froze, Mill Gill Falls froze into a 70 ft icicle behind which it is said 12 men took their lunch. In 1799 Wordsworth, writing to Coleridge about looking back to Askrigg from Mill Gill said, "The Steeple of Askrigg was not a quarter mile distant, but oh, how far we were from it." It is not just a beauty spot, however. In 1908 it was used to generate electricity for Askrigg giving it one of the earliest village electricity supplies. The cache is at the footpath juntion that leads to Mill Gill Falls which is worth seeing. A pencil is provided for logging and there is room for swaps.
