This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no response to my previous note, I assume that the cache is not going to be repaired or replaced, so I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us, and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

When people think of Willits, they usually say, “Yeah, I know Willits. That’s were the Skunk Train is”. And that’s true. But there are more things to do around Willits than just board a train so you can leave town! By finding this cache, you will be acquainting yourself with a BLM nature trail that not too many people know exists.

Located 7 miles east of Willits on Canyon Road, Little Darby Environmental Education Area is a wildlife habitat and nature trail that loops through a broad spectrum of ecosystems, from creek side riparian to fir forest to chaparral brush land. When the day is hot, Little Darby provides a cooler shaded area for hiking and picnicking. To get to the cache sight, plan on about a 15-minute hike. If you'd like to see more, the short trail loop can be walked in less than an hour, and the long loop in about an hour-and-a-half. Little Darby has become a favorite place for us to hike with our dog. It’s common to be the only ones there! The trail is well established, but be prepared to do a little heavy breathing at times (although getting to the cache site isn’t bad at all).

Within the cache you’ll find the normal assortment of treasures for trade. We’ve also included insect repellant (the mosquitoes can be bad at times), a couple of “sting-eze” capsules, a Nature Trail Guide Book (use it while you’re in the area, but please return it to the container before you leave), and a camera (say “Cheese!!”). Use the camera to take a snapshot of you at the cache. If you use up the last of any of these items, please note that when you log your visit on-line.

Enjoy this area, and Happy Caching!
