Oscar Brown was not the first white man to set foot on this Northeast corner of Tacoma's Commencement Bay. That honor goes to Capt. Vancouver and his party who decided that it looked like a good spot to beach the boats and have lunch.
Oscar was, however, the first permanent white resident of this point, moving in with his wife Annie as the first lightkeeper in 1903 and serving in that role until he retired in 1939. In addition to keeping the light, he occupied his time with music, teaching many of the growing community's children the piano and the clarinet.
Several of the buildings here have been restored including Oscar's house, the boathouse, and the bellhouse. The keeper's residence is available for rentals by the week, and the whole site has been turned into a city park.
No bushwhacking required at all! If you find yourself near poison oak, you're in the wrong place.
Because this is a fairly open area, discretion is a must!
The cache is in a 50-cal. ammo can. The initial contents all fit with the lighthouse theme. If possible, please trade within the navigation/light/safety theme.
