Near the top of Dartt Mound, one mile west of Hwy Z on Ballard Rd. Then North on Division about 1/4 mile, park your vehicle and go west up hill.
This hill got its name from a backwoods hermit named Frank Dartt who trapped bears, wildcats, and wolves for travelling menageries 100 years ago. He also trapped bears for their hides and kept them alive, fattening them up in enclosed pens til their hides were prime. It is rumored that he had his life savings buried somewhere in the woods near his home northwest of this location. His cache was never found after his death in 1918; many holes were dug in the area by locals. So if you happen to stumble across Dartt's cache while looking for mine, please remember me! If you would like any more information about this colorful character send me an email.
