Geocache Description:

"Eddy Hassle" another Mtn Adventure. "Hassle?" don't hesitate to take in the views available here, just be prepared for changing weather, regardless of the season, thus the name.

Vistas galore await those who choose to hike the many trails of our north state. Mt. Eddy, just over 9000 feet high gives a perspective only possible from this lofty perch. Unparalleled views of Mt. Shasta, Castle Crags, the Trinity Alps and Marble Mountains reward hikers who summit (or reach Eddy Hassle).

Take Stewarts Spring Road to Park's Creek Summit. Park here if early season as the trail is drier. If you don't mind a couple small creek crossings and want to shorten the hike a bit, drive about a mile and catch the trail at the next parking area. This trail meanders through seasonal wildflowers. Might be boggy in early summer and wet in spring. The hike to the cache is 3.7 miles from the lower trail head.

Both trails meet just below Deadfall Lakes where you can stop and rest or camp in several nice sites.

Eddy Hassle? Today, mid August, we rarely glimpsed the Mt Eddy summit. Had intended to visit the cache site of Mt. Eddy Buried Treasure, recently archived. Lost a hat in the wind, rain threatened and fell late in the afternoon and we were not dressed for the harsh weather. No sweeping vistas today so we certainly will return. The Beaver's Eddie Haskle was a pain. Today, our "Eddy" was just a "Hassle."

Be prepared for sun and storm. Winter and snow will make this a cache only to be attempted by those with specialized skills and willing to assume the risk of back country travel. Definitely a 5 when snow is present.
