Steeraway Lane Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Mortington Bear: Decided to archive this as the cache became irretrievably waterlogged, and I have no plans (at present) to replace it.

Thank you to everyone who went there though.

Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden in the Limekiln Woods (Also known as the Short Woods) in Wellington. It can get very muddy and the path can get slippy after rainfall, so be careful!

Parking can be difficult, but there is a small lay-by after the motorway bridge just after Bayley road by a large gate. After the bridge the road is known as 'Steeraway Lane'. You can continue further up the road to the woods, but that is at your own risk as it is near to private properties. The path into the woods starts with a small stile, but the path beyond is overgrowing with nettles so be careful! We didn't need to bushwhack. When you get into the woods walk down the main path. The rocks on the path get slippery when wet, so be careful. At the junction in the path (there is a marker for the limekiln woods walk) you should turn right and continue down the path. This path can get very muddy. Just after the first large clearing on the left there is an open lime kiln off to the right of the path. Be very careful here, and hold onto kids! Stay well back, because it could be unstable. After the second clearing on the left the cache is down a small path to the right of the main trail. Once down this path, you should pass under the tree arch. The cache is nearby.

The co-ordinates may be off due to thick tree-cover over the cache site, but the cache itself can be found without use of a GPS anyway.
EDIT: I've replaced the co-ords with those posted by aRRKS as they were spot on.
