This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

A beautiful vista of the west, celebrating labor.

This cache was hidden on Labor Day weekend in honor of CWA Local 7076, the new Union of state employees. It's at the end of a shallow canyon near where I used to live. You probably won't see another soul, and the view is magnificent! The original cache was a metal coffee can and contained, in addition to a logbook and pencil: an SEA-CWA Union pin, a golf ball globe, a yellow VW Beetle, an AirPhoto USA pin, and a souvenir coin of San Diego.

We've recently adopted this cache from ZenCooker. He picked a lovely spot. The trail is not long and there are many fun rocks to scramble around on, along with a large, but comical carving on one (see gallery). The original cache went missing, so we have moved it slightly and it is in a new container.

When we went to replace the cache, we accessed it via the Mesa Trail. You can park at the East Park lot and follow the paved trail that runs past the dog park. There is a side trail off to the left called Graduation Trail that will take you to this cache. We also have one of our JMNSB caches (GC1BABA) along the Mesa Trail, so if you time you might want to try it as well.

This trail runs alongside the mesa cliffs, so be cautious when toting little ones along. Our three kids, 9 and under, made it just fine though. The trail is pretty steep at first, so we increased the terrain level a bit.

The new cache is in a 50cal. ammo can and has the following contents besides a log book and pen:

--Various signature items of ours (world coins, marble jewelry, etc)
--Magic Beans (no...not the beanstalk kind..sorry kids)
--Camping salt and pepper shaker
--Stencil
--Fishing lure
--Calculator
--New bandaids in travel container
--Wilderness cookbook
--Several children's books
