Geocache Description:

A hike along the former Long Path in John Boyd Thacher State Park.

This cache is located in the John Boyd Thacher State Park. Parking is at N 42° 38.300’ W 074° 00.908’, this is where the Long Path meets Beaver Dam Road (Albany County Rte. 303). Proceed south from the gate. You will be following a ski slope uphill. The path is wide and grassy, with thickets and woods on both sides. Look out for the occasional mountain biker racing down the hill. No need to bushwack through the woods. Follow the path to the intersection of another ski slope that descends to the left. Then enter the woods near a stream. The cache is a .30 cal ammo box hidden at ground level.
