Geocache Description:

A cache placed to honor the vision of Dave Ulmer, the man who placed the first "GPS stash". A cache which brings us back to the roots of this madness, and reminds us what geocaching was like in those early years.

Just like the first "GPS Stash" only coordinates will be given. You will have to do some map work to figure out exactly where it is, and how to get there. I tried to duplicate the contents of Dave Ulmers first cache as close as possible, but the can of beans just would not fit.

11/19/04 Edit: Since we have a first finder I want to tell future finders to be sure and check out the beaver dam just downstream from the cache. It is really interesting to see what those beavers have done! Also, the nearby stream is good for fishing but can be somewhat sensitive to harvest. If you do a fishing trip/cache hunt, please limit your harvest. When I placed the cache a month ago, I watched at least a dozen pairs of brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) spawning here. Exciting stuff for a fish biologist!
