Geocache Description:

Safe and cautious driving, arriving and leaving the cache area is highly advised.

We've all passed these Felines going to and coming from Santa Cruz or to the Summit area. They are "Leo" and "Leona". 8ft tall and made of concrete. Guardians of the once "Poets Canyon". They have guarded this entrance since 1922.
They were built by the sculptor Robert Paine for The writer Col. Charles Erskine Scott Wood and the poet Sara Bard Field. Wood and Field wanted a place where they and their guests could work undisturbed. So in 1919 they bought 34 acres of land where they could build their "Castle in the sky". Poet's Canyon was a gathering place for the "artistic people" of the time. (Carl Sandburg to name one.)
The broken down wine cask off to the side was placed by Field and Wood to protest prohibition. The cache container is a small tupperware container. Contents were:KFOG Sticker, 2004 49er schedule, Flashlight, Marble, $1.00 chip from Harveys, Casino"Tell it goodbye" San Francisco Giants pin, Logsheet.
After you've found the cache head over to the Cat's Restaurant (visit link) and check out the once waystation, speakeasy, bordello. It's one of the few remaining roadhouses in the United States.

8/5. Due to this cache being Muggled more than once, I've changed the cache to a micro. The cache was hidden so that it could be a easy find. Just want you to be able to enjoy these two beautiful felines.
Please rehide as found.
Meow.

Added note: Make sure you pick up the Benchmark by Leo!
