Geocache Description:

Barrette Lake Jeep Trail, 7k+ feet, rocky tight trail, long walk (10 miles round trip), extremely difficult 4 wheel drive trail only highly modified 4x4 will make it, entrance to trail is only 6' wide, so a large 4x4 will not fit (meaning full size trucks/suv's will not fit).

Don't go unless you like long hikes, or have a small 4x4 with a lift 33"+ tires lockers and a winch, and bring a friend with another vehicle, so when one breaks you don't have to walk out. This is a trail where even the most heavy duty 4x4's break down. It takes about 4 hours to go 4 1/2 miles. It's faster to walk it. In the first 1/2 mile there was a jeep with a broken axle. The cache itself is near Barrette lake, which is at the end of the 4 1/2 mile trail. The scenery is awesome at the lake, and very nice along the way to it. The trail is very dusty, and dry. Please pack out any garbage you see along the trail, and don't leave any of your own. This is in the Eldorado National Forest, and the cache is on the border of a wilderness area, so don't hike to far back without the proper permits. The cache itself is 4x4 related, its got misc. stuff you might need when wheeling, nothing exciting to a non wheeler. To get there take highway 50 past placerville about 35 miles. There is a turnoff to the left for Wright's road, follow this about 8 miles until it dead ends into the trail. The reason we made this cache was because we found a jeep tb and thought it would be cool to put it somewhere where only jeep type vehicles could go.
