Geocache Description:

Located in the Grassy Lake Forest Preserve. This is the companion to the Flint Creek cache,traversing the southern end of this preserve. Park at the coordinates given for this cache (N42:12.620 / W088:10.325)

The hike is a little longer than most (approx. 3.8 - 4 miles) but the trail is all gravel and well maintained. The trail takes you thru stages of woods, grasslands and marshes. The woods have mature hickory and oaks, the marsh has a nice little bridge to walk over. This area should be lovely at any time of the year. The trail ends at a scenic overview of the area around Grassy Lake.

This is a multi-stage cache; the final cache can be located by combining the clues found in the two initial stages. The clues are in tubular containers about 1 inch in diameter and 5 inches long. You do not need to open the tubes, and take care to return them to their original location. The locations of the two initial stages are:

Stage 1: N42:12.352 / W088:09.743
Stage 2: N42:12.741 / W088:09.650

Both initial stages are located a short distance from the trail and require very little bushwacking. The finds are all simple; the only difficulty is the length of the hike. The final cache is in a 30 cal. ammo can and is located a short distance off the main trail.
