The movie called it Picnic at Hanging Rock, the locals call it Baltzer lookout. I'll call it absolutely awesome. This location is one of the most photographed spots in the Blue Mts. Abseilers and rock climbers' shudder with excitement as they contemplate its brilliance.
A 2WD will get you to the locked gate, from here it’s a 4.5km walk or MTB along a fairly flat fire-trail. At the end of the trail you'll have a short walk to the cache area. Please obey all signs as the nearby cliffs are unfenced and the valley floor is approx' 250m below.
Be sure to bring your camera (as I forgot mine). Take the time to enjoy the awesome views.
The cache itself is well hidden and well away from the cliff edge. It contains all the usual goodies including a logbook. Be sure to hide it very well. Please don't attempt this cache at night and its advisable not to bring the geokiddies. Come prepared for all seasons as the mountains weather can be very unpredictable.
The 4.5 star rating for terrain is to highlight the risk associated with the unfenced cliffs that are nearby. The walk out to GZ is fairly easy.
