We first found this
strange little ramp in a guy's backyard in Fort Worth, (I can't
remember where). It was strange because it was tiny. The
transitions went from flat to vertical in a six foot radius. This
meant you had to be prepared and already shifting/throwing your
weight into whatever trick you were trying before you even started
up the transition. The wood was painted teal and it was surfaced
with formica, (white with metal flecks), which gave it a cheesy
diner feel. All we were missing was some vinyl, chrome and a
jukebox blaring out Patsy Cline's "Crazy".
The guy who built it
was hanging up his skateboard and offered the ramp to us, as long
as we hauled it away. None of our parents would allow a ramp in
their backyard, but Blake's girlfriend, Leana asked her parents and
they gave us the green light. I remember several times, while we
were skating here, Leana or her mom bringing out sandwiches and
sodas for us. It was just like being a kid again.
Blake, Craig and I
were about the only three who skated here regularly. There were a
few times that other skaters came over, but most really hated the
tight transitions. Once you got used to it, most vert tricks were
easily adapted to the small confines.
Leana lived just a few
houses up from this park on Vanderbilt.
The
cache is a keychain pill vial. Watch for muggles. BYOP.
I didn't see any PI or thorns here, but they could easily show up
in the future.
