The steep slope seen from the observation deck is the old
Nippissing shoreline, the term for an earlier, higher Lake Michigan
level.
The first coordinates are for a micro-size cache (a small metal
mint tin wrapped in electrical tape), which will contain the
coordinates for the second part. The second cache is in a gallon
size ice cream bucket. The original contents of this cache are: an
Eric Clapton cassette tape, fish scaler, deck of cards, toe warmers
for winter cachers, 3 golf tees, $2 Canadian coin, a compass, and
for the kids 2 jars of playdough and a puzzle. Also the obligatory
logbook, pen, pencil and pencil sharpener.
