Geocache Description:

This is located in Army Trail Nature Preserve across from Addison Trail High School. There are paved and groomed trails in this park. At the end there will be a small amount of bushwacking. Parking can be found at: N41°55.901 W88°01.374You cannot park anywhere else to reach these trails.

If you know the words to the song American Pie, one of the verses that refers to something found in nature will describe this cache. It is also a semi-appropriate name since the High School is right across the street and the song includes references to high school activities. While my wife attended school here, students would sneak across to this location. The area is now maintained by the local Grammer and High School Districts and the local Park District. The schools got together about 20 years ago to save this piece of land for school research and educational activities. The cache you are seeking is a regular cache that originally contains a log book, and a bunch of toy micro cars and matchbox cars. It was originally a plastic container once used to hold instant coffee. After some modifications, it has been camouflaged to look like something else. We had fun remembering what a great song American Pie is. If you know it, you're sure to enjoy it again. If you don't know it, get a copy somewhere and check it out. Please let us know what you think of this cache or its description. I did this cache keeping my sister's challenge in mind, "I'm looking forward to more. I bet you can really get creative."
