I discovered this area while walking with my dog a few years ago. I believe this may be an old logging trail. The distance round trip is less than 4 km and total time required should be less than 2 hours. It should be accessible year-round. Hike or bike in for three seasons, and when there is enough snow, you can ski or snowshoe. The trail is wide, with a few gentle slopes. In summer an alternate route could involve a paddle to the southernmost part of Lac Lapeche, and a hike on to the cache. For the adventurous and experienced, a bushwhack might be an option. For the rest of us the closest access point is a trailhead located at the intersection of Hammond Road and Steele Line with roadside parking nearby. This trail extends all the way to Lac Lapeche. There is a fork in the trail at the Fork waypoint listed below. Proceed east along the trail at this point. At placement, along with a log book and writing tools, the cache container had the following items:
A Caledonia Brewery coaster
Magnifying Glass
A goldfish
One Royal
Ottawa Golf Ball
A shamrock
One red metal Classic
Flashback Canadian Flags

Please be sure to conceal the container when you replace it.You might consider taking a snack, as there is seating nearby. There is also another cache down the trail to the west and one at Lac Lapeche. Log your visit, post some pictures, and enjoy your visit up the Pontiac!!! This one's for Ambrose.
