This is a micro cache located at an old rest area. No pen in cache. No bathroom here either but a nice place to stop and stretch. Sometimes muggles here but they never seem to stay long. Can be found day or night. Please write small!
This cache is in honor of the famous White Wolf that roamed this huge basin. For 15 years he roamed this area of more than a million acres killing at will. Estimated to have killed 1,800 head of cattle valued at $35,000 dollars. From the Belt Mountains in the south across the basin to the Highwood Mountains to the north the White Wolf hunted from 1915 until he was hunted down and killed in 1930. Hated by many but respected by all. Elva Wineman summed it up pretty good, "He was a killer, but he was a gallant animal, one to make your blood pressure mount a little higher. He gave us food for speculation for fifteen long years, as we bet on and against him. It's been awfully quiet in the Basin since he's been gone". His mounted body can be seen in the town of Stanford at the Basin Trading Post along with other historical photo's.
