Serenity Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Froginabog: Checked up after the last post. There has been a problem with theft in the area. The site is being watched incase the culprits return, as such stangers are not appreciated. Have decied it is best to archive, I wouldn't want an innocent cacher being carted off by he police.

Geocache Description:

I have set this cache up to celebrate Firefly, the best television show ever. Sadly it was cancelled in its infancy, though pressure from the fans brought about a dvd release and a film, Serenity, that is due for release next year. The show is set four hundred years in the future. After a bitter civil war the occupied planets are united by a new government called the Alliance. Under the leadership of Malcolm Reynolds, a renegade who fought against the new government, the crew of the Firefly-class vessel, Serenity, must struggle to survive anyway they can, often on the wrong side of the law. In order to make money the crew takes on some passengers, but find they have picked up a whole heap of trouble. The cache contains items that symbolise the crew.

The area where the cache is hidden is the former site of Wellingore airfield. With the outbreak of the Second World War this site was used as a satellite airfield for RAF Digby. The remains of the runway, pill boxes and blister hangers can still be seen. At the end of the war, Ukrainian and German former prisoners of war were provided with temporary living accommodation on the site. In 1951 the site reverted to farmland.

It seemed apt to bring the past and the future together at this site.

Zoe: "Preacher, don't the Bible have some pretty specific things to say about killing?
Book: "Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps

Mal: "Well, look at this! Appears we got here just in the nick of time. Whaddya suppose that makes us?"
Zoe: "Big damn heroes, sir."
Mal: "Ain't we just!"

Mal: Ship like this, be with ya 'til the day you die."
Zoe: "Cause it's a deathtrap."
