Geocache Description:

It will be members only for the first find or two, then open for all.

If you can't find this one it's because it got stolen. It's that easy. Seriously.

The idea for this came about a while ago as I was speaking to my friend "John" (a local cacher - that's his real name). John had tried a couple of area caches that involved some substantial hikes to find for his 100th find only to be skunked on both caches. When he told me about it I poked fun at him a little and told him that I would place a cache he was sure to find. He's since past the 100 mark but I'm still going to poke a little fun at him.

The cache is a LARGE ammo box. Unlike one that I've ever seen while caching this area. It's painted fluorescent green. It's not covered at all. It says "Geocache" in large blue letters on it. There are no tricks to finding it. This could quite easily be the easiest traditional cache you've ever found.

I meant to take a picture of John actually HOLDING the cache when I saw him last week but I forgot the cache and my camera at home.

Spoilers are welcomed for this cache. If you have a picture of the cache, feel free to post it. John can use all the help he can get.

To drive to the cache location is simple - drive up (or down) #4 (the Rice Lake Rd in Duluth) until you get to the obvious turnoff. Hike back until you find the cache. You'll come to an old trail - there is a sign where you parked that describes the trail. Make sure you check out what's left of the nearby building to the SE (about 50'). This is St. Louis County Tax Forfeit land.

If you need help, there is at least one picture in the logs below that may assist you in finding the cache.

Make sure that you attach the lid correctly. This isn't like standard ammo cans - the lid comes off from either end here so it's possible that it's latched on one side and not the other. Please check both sides.

UPDATE: October 20, 2014

The container went missing and has been replaced with a large ammocan with 2 inch wide reflective tape on it's sides.  It is behind that big rock same as the first LARGE ammocan.  It is just as hard to miss as the original with reflective tape all over it.

Inside the container is a copy of John's original log from October 14, 2004.  That was ten (10) years ago.  It is sad the original log book is gone but such is the way of the world.  There is a story that goes with this cache.  John wanted to find something unique for his 100th find.  He DNF'd one of Pear Head's and he DNF'd one of EskoClimber's caches.  While talking to Pear Head (ok, VENTING to Pear Head), Pear Head had the idea of torturing John a bit with something "he could find."  That is how this cache was born.

This spoiler picture is entirely keeping with the theme of this geocache.  PLEASE bring the photo with to insure a find.
