Geocache Description:

We were in this area looking for crystals when we came upon a perfect spot to place my first cache.

On one of the roads to Granite Pass, this place has many large boulders and views of the surrounding hills. If you have the time or the desire, head further up the road toward Lolo Pass. You may find crystals in the ditches along the road and on the hillsides. The forest rangers and our guidebook recommend looking after rainstorms as the crystals often get washed into the ditches and exposed in the road cuts. If you find any you are more than welcome to take them home with you. The only requirement is: if you dig anywhere, please fill in the hole when you are done. If you leave the road, please use caution as some areas are on Plum Creek land.

This cache is full of rocks! Mainly tumbled semi-precious stones. We placed a few rough sapphires of facetable size as well. There are also a couple faceted stones for those who may be into jewelry making.

The road is in pretty decent shape, although there are a few potholes in places. Enjoy the scenery and good luck finding some crystals as a memento.
