Geocache Description:

Are you brave enough to attempt this cache hunt? To find the cache you must visit some of Lincolnshire’s haunted hotspots. If you intend to do this in the dark I advise you to take a torch and wear good running shoes.

The above co-ordinates are for the first site. Unfortunately the building is on private land, so we have chosen this site for its view of the building. The footsteps of ghostly monks still echo around the building and its grounds.

The bridge you have just driven over was built in 18WC

The second site can be found at N 53 03.196 W 000 29.976. If you look across the field you will see the site of the runway of the post World War I Naval airport (now part of RAF Cranwell). In 1919 air mechanic Freddy Jackson fell into a planes propeller as it prepared for take off. Three days later a squadrons group photograph was taken on the runway. Freddy’s ghostly face appears in the photograph. His funeral had occurred on the same day the picture was snapped.

Take fifteen away from the number on the double power pole to get A.

The third site can be found at N 53 05.788 W 000 26.008. Over the years there have been many ghostly sightings here. A ghostly officer is often seen cycling around the base. Footsteps and voices have been heard in empty rooms and an airman, dressed in World War II flying kit, haunts the barracks.

The building in the car park is number 1Y7

The fourth site can be found at N 53 08.048 W 000 29.455. The dark shape of an airman can be seen moving around the control tower. He sometimes stands on the balcony looking out over the field. It is thought that he suffers remorse for sending dozens of young men off to their deaths. Beware because an unseen hand has been known to throw stones at people.

B is the number of times the letter 'H' appears in the sentence at the bottom of 'the kitchen' sign in the carpark.
X is the number of words in the sentence at the bottom of 'the kitchen' sign in the carpark.

The fifth site can be found at N 53 07.886 W 000 20.558. This ghost only appears between 9.30pm and 10pm. During World War II a RAF Flight Sergeant and his girlfriend were riding his motorbike when he lost control. He survived, but his girlfriend, named Catherine, died instantly of a broken neck. If a woman dressed in a green coat and headscarf flags you down near the memorial and asks for help the best course of action is to agree, at which point she will disappear. It seems she is forever trapped asking for help long unneeded and unaware of it. A visitors centre can be found at N 53 07.345 W 000 21.343. Entry is free, but it is only open from Easter to the end of October (Wednesday 12-4, Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays 12-5).

The memorial has the following years: 19E8 – 194V.

You should now have all the answers to work out the position of the final cache:

N 53 0A BCE W 000 2V WXY

The area where the cache is hidden is haunted by the ghost of an olive skinned man, with a pitted face. His other noticeable feature is his missing legs, in place of which there is white mist. This ghost appears with his arm up raised, as if in warning. Sometimes he waits on the road side. On one occassion he clung to a car bonnet, fading away a short distance down the road. Other times he has appeared to people who were walking in the area that the cache is hidden.

There have also been reports of a ghostly horse and wagon that travels up and down the road.

There is limited parking at the cache site.
