Geocache Description:

A camouflaged waterproof match container against a tree. I would recommend stopping by the motel office to ask permission to look for this little geocache. They gave me permission years ago.

BEWARE OF NETTLES!

The yellow maple leaves you see below were near the cache on October 15, 2005. The time was near sunset.

I decided to place this cache here while we were on our annual family trip to the apple orchards to get apples and squeaky cheese. In case anyone is interested, the coordinates for the apple orchards that we go to every year are: Fleming Orchards at 43 19.907, -90 46.948; Kickapoo Orchard at 43 19.615, -90 47.696; and Sunrise Orchard Inc. at 43 19.078, -90 49.826. We also love to get squeaky cheese at Mt. Sterling Goat Milk Cheese at 43 18.942, -90 55.587. The park that we picnic at in Gay's Mills has some neat log cabins. It's at 43 18.781, -90 50.823. For high resolution imagery plug the above coords into this website.

Our favorite place to stay before venturing out to satisfy out tastes for these delectables is the Fenmore Motel. This year was not quite the same however. Gordy, the family patriarch (Grandpa), was not with us. He passed away the day after Thanksgiving day last year. In honor of him I decided to name this little cache after him and sign in every year that we return.

Out back of the Fenmore Motel there's a nice little woods that I used to explore with my kids when they were younger. My son and I still like roaming around out there. The colors were beautiful at the time I placed this cache! It's easily accessible from the southern edge of the woods and the owner of the motel knows not to be alarmed by strangers poking around with one waist height hand holding a small object (a GPSr) while wandering as though confused. In fact one of the guys that works there is becoming very interested in geocaching as I talk to him about it.

I hope others can enjoy this beautiful location with a spectacular view of the Wisconsin River valley out the windows in the front. I did ask permission of the motel owner's son. He assured me that it was OK to place this cache.

To the left here is a pair of pictures showing the area where the cache is. The top picture was taken in daylight, The bottom one in moonlight!
