Having moved from Texas where there are not many "real" mountains,
I (the PNWTexan part of PNWTexan and Rose)was totally overwhelmed
by the mountains here in Washington.
We decided that I had indeed gone crazy in love with the
mountains, so when we saw Mallardy Ridge, there it was. The place
and rough meaning for our first cache.
The theme for this cache is Ducks and hiking/backpacking. We put
some ducky things and some camping things in it.
The view is great from the cache point, and along the road to
the cache. The trail to cutthroat lakes is just a stones throw from
the cache as well, and is a 4 mile one way hike to assorted sizes
of lakes. It is alwo known as Walt Bailey's trail. You can view
some of the good sites along the way here.
If you do take the trail, be sure and visit the
CBWA Cache while you are there.
This should be good for a quick cache on your way to a hike or
just out for a drive.
The cache is only about 10-15 paces off of the overgrown
road.
