After recently doing My Favourite Bench (GCK3TG) – a cache by grizzlyG - I came to wonder about some of my favourite benches located in the park. While grizz certainly has one of my top 5 favourite benches, was it my #1? There are also a few other nice benches that also have caches at them – Along the Wolf trail (GC11CC) for example or perhaps Skyline (GC5A1C). There are also several up on or near King mountain. In the end, I realized that my actual favourite bench was “cache free” and along a path somewhat less traveled. Perhaps I should set a cache and tell others of this bench? But could I horn in on grizzlyG’s excellent idea. Would it be appropriate to scoop the idea for myself? Like any potential franchisee I decided to get permission from grizz himself. He seemed agreeable at first but wanted to see said bench to make sure it met with his stringent standards of a quality bench. So one afternoon we hiked up and upon arrival he set about determining if my bench met all of his standards as a quality location. “Good bench…could use a back but serviceable all the same, adequate view – has good potential in the fall season, nice trail….. I accept!” he said. And so I am proud to be the newest franchisee of grizzlyG Incorporated – pruveyor of fine geocaches (all worldwide rights reserved ;-)You can start from a variety of locations. P7 might be a good spot to start… but there are a number of others that could work depending on the season. The cache is probably not winter accessible unless you are prepared to dig a bit. It is not easily accessible by mountainbike but you could ditch your bike and walk as you got close to the goal. And don’t forget your camera as the view of the park, and the city is really quite good. My personal favourite I might add.
