Geocache Description:

An exquisitely restored, yet little-known rainforest in the middle of suburbia. A jewel in the crown of Newport.

This rainforest is a secret that everyone should know about.

Enter a green cathedral of coachwood trees, cabbage tree palms and ferns, where clear, babbling brooks rush over mossy, green boulders.

Park in Hillslope Road in Newport.

A sign saying Crown of Newport Reserve marks the well-maintained path. The path turns to stairs as it climbs the hill.

The heavy rainforest canopy will make your satellite reception drop out quite frequently. Find a clearing to get your bearings.

The cache container is an ammo can.

Many thanks to the volunteers from Newport Bushlink who restored and weeded this piece of paradise. Speaking of Newport Bushlink, can you spot the place where I got the words ‘green cathedral’?
